Tahira Dawood, Acting General Counsel

Tahira Dawood is the Acting General Counsel at the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC). Tahira previously worked as a Staff Lawyer, Articling Student, and Policy and Research Analyst at PIAC. She holds a Masters (LL.M.) in Law and Technology from the University of Ottawa, and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of London (International programmes). Before joining PIAC, she volunteered as a Research Analyst at the Samuelson-Glushko Canadian Internet Policy & Public Interest Clinic (CIPPIC) and worked on projects concerning copyright law, privacy, and public policy. She has practiced law abroad, focusing on contracts, corporate law, intellectual property rights, and aviation law. During her free time, she loves to read about food and history. She also enjoys painting and going on long walks in the summer.

Donna Brady, Office Administrator

Donna Brady joined PIAC in the spring of 1992 as full-time office administrator. Her background is in Business Administration. Previous to joining PIAC, she worked as the Administrative Assistant for a City and Regional Councilor.

Sanjida Rashid, Public Interest Articling Fellow

Sanjida Rashid is PIAC’s articling student for 2026-2027. She graduated from the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law in 2026. Sanjida completed the uOttawa Option in Social Justice (J.D.) and, in 2025, was honoured to be named an Amatul Rahman Malik Social Justice Fellow. Sanjida has long demonstrated a commitment to public interest through student advocacy and enduring contributions to many community organizations. She is based in Ottawa, Ontario.

PIAC gratefully acknowledges the Law Foundation of Ontario’s grant to host Sanjida, as part of their Public Interest Articling Fellowship (PIAF) program.

Shunzi Redfern, Summer Legal Intern

Shunzi Redfern is PIAC’s summer legal intern from Western Law for 2026. Her placement at PIAC was made possible through the Western Law Internship Program (WLIP). She previously attended the University of Ottawa and Western University for her undergraduate degree from 2020-2024, with an Honours Specialization in Political Science. Shunzi obtained her Master’s Degree in Political Science from Western University in 2025. With her professional background in the energy distribution sector, Shunzi has developed a strong interest in the regulatory field. She has consistently focused on the topic of company compliance with industry regulations and consumer protection in her work.

Joshua Fichman-Goldberg, Project Coordinator

Joshua Fichman-Goldberg was PIAC’s articling student for 2025-2026. He has rejoined PIAC as a Project Coordinator for an Organizational Development Project. He graduated from McGill University’s Faculty of Law JD/BCL program in 2023. Prior to law school, he obtained his undergraduate degree from McGill in Middle East Studies. His work experience with community organizations has led him to develop a passion for advocacy at both the individual and policy levels. He is based in Montreal QC.
